This is The Opposite Locker where we try and sort out the cool from the square. This is a discussion system detailing how cool a car is, not how fast, fun, or frivolous it may be, but how well it looks in the cat's pajamas.

However, we are in an age of economic responsibility where smaller cars are having a resurgence. Add in the Euro-cred the Fiesta has and I think you have at least a cool car. I wouldn't say frigid, even for the ST because you still have to explain it to non-car people."

New Kid On The Block

Lamborghini has always been the brand of masked vigilantes posing as rich playboys. The Lamborghini design language and engineering, following its acquisition by the Volkswagen Group, lost some of it's luster and scare-to-the-point-of-almost-certain-defecation nature. The Aventador has brought back the insane styling to the italian brand, but has it also brought back the driving characteristics (I really don't know; it's not like I've driven one)? Is a comfortable Lamborghini cool anyways, or was did the fact that Lamborghini used to make such unpractical cars make them cool in the first place?

The Big Question : Has Lamborghini lost their luster and become just another Ferrari, or does the Lamborghini brand still have someone left to offend?

Lambo doors are played out, and they're automatic-only now anyway. But it's still not square.

So-Frigid-You-Want-It-on-a-Poster

Lambo's are more staid and normal now to drive, and are less likely to try and intentionally kill you. That doesn't make them less awesome to look at. Any "normal" car that can be on a poster my 9 year old would want on his wall is cool. It reminds me of the Coutach that was on my wall growing up.

I was going to click on Frigid, but then I saw the wheels. God those things are ugly. So it got a cool instead.

I think cool cars are mainly cars you want someone else to buy. You will choose the sensible route, the cool people go balls out and buy the car you secretly want but won't buy because of boring reasons. This implies, to me, that any car bought in excess is also uncool. You have to defy reason by buying the car to have any hope of being cool. If it's your only car, the Lambo is cool. If you've got endless money, a V12 Lambo is too obvious.

Now that a Lamborghini is a somewhat comfortable place to spend time, I say frigid. An old Lambo made too many sacrifices to be Frigid, it just looked cool and attracted the attention of a lot of dudes. The new one has working A/C, Satnav, power everything, it's pretty much a neat looking Audi inside, and that takes it from Cool to Frigid.

It has nothing to do with power. It has to do with how cool it is.

Sorry, didn't seem sarcastic in the way it was conveyed. My apologies.
